From what age is a 3D pen suitable for children?
Our cordless kids' pens use low-temperature PCL filament and are suitable from age 6. Classic pens with PLA filament suit children from about 14. Starting together always works best.
Which 3D pen suits my child?
Every starter set is complete, so you need nothing extra to begin. The difference is in the pen and in how much filament you get.
Starter Set S. The entry model, with PLA filament. Handy if you first want to see whether it catches on.
Cordless Starter Set, in pink or blue. No cable in the way, low-temperature PCL filament and a video course of 20 videos. Comfortable for younger children drawing on their own at the table.
Race Kit, in pink or blue. The same cordless pen, plus five vehicle stencils, 34 metres of filament and a wind-up car. Your child draws a vehicle, clicks it on and lets it race.
Starter Set. The most complete set, with 28 filament colours and PLA.

How much does a 3D pen cost?
You can see the current prices above, next to each kit. Every kit is complete, so there is no need to buy filament right away. Separate 100 metre refills are available for both PCL and PLA.
What exactly is a 3D pen?
A 3D pen looks like a thick marker, but no ink comes out. The pen heats a thin strand of plastic that comes out soft and hardens within a few seconds. That way you draw in mid-air instead of on paper. You will also see it called a 3D printing pen or 3D drawing pen.
Is a 3D pen safe for children?
Yes. Our kids' pens are EN71 tested, the European toy safety standard, and use PCL filament that melts at a low temperature. We do recommend supervision the first few times.
What is the difference between PCL and PLA filament?
PCL melts at a low temperature and belongs with the cordless kids' pens and the Race Kit. PLA works at a higher temperature and belongs with the classic XXL starter set. So always check which filament fits your pen.
What is included in a starter set?
Everything you need to start right away: the 3D pen, filament in plenty of colours, a stencil booklet and a storage case. The cordless sets also come with a video course of 20 videos.
How long does a roll of filament last?
A 100 metre refill lasts a good number of drawing sessions. Exactly how many depends on how thickly you draw. The refills come in 20 colours, so you do not keep running out of the same one.
Does filament from another brand fit too?
Usually yes, as long as the thickness matches and you take the right type: PCL for a PCL pen and PLA for a PLA pen. Use the wrong type and the pen jams.
What can you make with a 3D pen?
At first it is mostly flat shapes that you join together afterwards: a little house, an animal, a name. In ten easy projects for beginners we show you how to start. If drawing still feels awkward, the XXL stencil book makes it a lot easier, because you simply trace the shapes.
